Altrego

MNEK unveiled the first single from his forthcoming debut album last week on MistaJam’s BBC Radio 1Xtra show. Now the track’s available on SoundCloud. Coincidence? I don’t know, but it certainly is suspicious. It’s also quite good, which is nice, because everyone’s been banging on about how he’s going to be a big deal for ages now. Anyway, you can have a listen to ‘Every Little Word’ here:

Linkin Park. Remember them? Well, they’re releasing their sixth album on 16 Jun. It’s called ‘The Hunting Party’. And that’s all there is to say about that.

CMU approved back in September last year, funky pop type Altrego (pictured) is now ready to release his debut EP. Produced by Björk and Sigur Rós collaborator Valgeir Sigurðsson, it’s called ‘Miraculous Epiphanies’ and will be out via Bonka Circus on 16 Jun. Check out the video for the title track here:

Also out on 16 Jun is the new album from Venetian Snares, which is to be known as ‘My Love Is A Bulldozer’. He’ll also be playing live at The Scala in London on 24 May. I’ve not got any new music for you to listen to, but would you look at that album artwork.

Finally in today’s amazing journey through new releases, we have an album that you can buy right now. While most musicians try to hide away their early forays into music making, Max Tundra has made his available for all to hear. And, annoyingly, they’re pretty good.

Explains Max (aka Ben Jacobs): This is an album of two halves, entirely recorded during my childhood. ‘Selected Amiga/BBC Micro Works 85-92’ is a curious mix of throwaway song-titles, rave- and videogame-influenced programming and pubescent re-imaginings of the musical themes of the time. It is a fascinating precursor to ‘With Love To Mummy’ – the next stepping stone on the path to the subsequent Max Tundra sound – also available here on Bandcamp. It is fairly easy to infer the kind of music I was listening to as a kid, some of which is still buzzing around my head these days”.
