Hannah Diamond

Rounding up the latest release news…

Yaaaay. Hate-to-love/love-to-hate pop lolly Hannah Diamond (pictured) has shown off a new single titled ‘Attachment’.

It falls on the sad side of her approved last one, the brain-splittingly divisive ‘Pink & Blue’, and is available to ‘booooo’ at or ‘ooooo’ over now by single-clicking this (post)internet link:

And look! It’s another lady-in-pop (or rather, rock) that half the world probably hates! It’s Courtney Love, of course, who has a double A-side solo single, ‘You Know My Name/Wedding Day’, coming out, like it or not, on 4 May. ‘America’s Sweetheart’ will match her first new material since 2004 by playing nine British shows in May, moving off with a two-night stop-in London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 11 and 12 May.

This is ‘You Know My Name’:

Sashaying on over to disco clique Hercules & Love Affair‘s corner now, as bandleader Andy Butler et al deal a new single featuring the great and richly-bearded John Grant on the mike. A side-dish to H&LA’s latest LP, ‘The Feast Of The Broken Heart’, which is released 26 May, the track finds Grant dealing lyrically with his HIV positive condition “in that beautifully punky, spirited and courageous way he has about him”, says Butler. Listen in on John “singing and playing his heart out” on the song now:

Abiding CMU faves FM Belfast have granted fans an early stream of ‘Brighter Days’, their new LP, ahead of its release tomorrow. So basically, it’s the gift of an additional bright day, which let’s face it, is priceless. “We hope it will brighten up your days and adds colour to whatever you are doing”, say the Iceland-based band. Acclimatise to the ‘Brighter Days’ vibe right away, here via Clash.

Penultimately, REABO, a super-band with Jägermeister backing, have knocked heads on a single titled ‘Whatever May Come’. The group’s line-up, which includes some-time CMU columnist Eddy Temple-Morris, grime MC Beaupierre, Skindred’s Arya, ex-Evile guitarist OI, and bass DJ/vocalist Redneck, came up with the track spontaneously over a twelve hour lock-in in a studio. So take from that what you will, as you play it now:

Finalily, it’s Lily. Allen. Innit. Pop’s most docile garbage-lady (admittedly so) has released the video to the title track of her forthcoming solo LP, whose name I don’t want to say. Because if I even typed it, I’d have to hide away wincing in a dark room for a while. Which wouldn’t accomplish a lot, to be honest. It sounds like ‘Cheezus’, only less cheese, more feminism-themed. It’s this.

Anyway, to the track, because the track, as Shakespeare once said, is the thing. What to say? It finds Lily standing far back from the charts and appraising her she-rivals, and ‘the game’ in general, mainly by taking mild pains to aim semi-rhyming snipes at Rihanna, Gaga, Katy Perry, Beyonce and Lorde. And she wears a hood in the promo, so, that’s another important point to consider.

The song clanks along quite nicely, really, so give it a go now:
