Rdio puts video-based sister service into beta
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 21 November 2012
The company behind streaming music service Rdio has just launched a private beta test of sister service Vdio, which has been in development for at least a year. The beta will take place in both the UK and the US, despite initial indications that the video-version of Rdio would only initially be available in Britain.
Also according to GigOM, while many expected Vdio to be a service akin to Netflix, so a video-based replica of Rdio where a monthly subscription would give you access to unlimited movies and TV shows, in fact the new platform will be more like the video-content strands of iTunes, ie consumers can either pay one fee to download a film or programme for keeps, or a lesser fee to have access to it for a set period of time.
