Radiohead release song in memory of war veteran

By | Published on Wednesday 5 August 2009

Radiohead have released a new song, which got its first play on Radio 4’s ‘Today Programme’ this morning, in memory of World War I veteran Harry Patch, who died last month.

Entitled ‘Harry Patch (In Memory Of)’, the lyrics are based on the soldier’s last words and Thom Yorke said he was inspired to write the song after hearing an interview with ‘The Today Programme’ recorded in 2005. The song can be downloaded from the band’s website for £1, with all proceeds going to the Royal British Legion. Go here to get it: download.waste.uk.com/Store/did.html
