Radio Academy

So, radio types and radio peeps and those people who ‘do’ radio all gathered in London last night for their industry’s prestigious ‘Used To Be Called The Sony Awards And No One Can Quite Remember What They’re Now Called Awards’. And what a night. I mean, what a night. Well, it was definitely a night.

Scroobius Pip took the best specialist show prize which was rather marvellous, meanwhile Jamie Cullum, Frank Skinner, Zane Lowe, your Deputy Prime Minister, tennis players galore and a dead Nelson Mandela were also all involved in radio programmes deemed worthy of celebration. And hurrah for that.

Coming up, winners. But first words. From Radio Academy Awards Chair John Myers: “This was a night to celebrate”. And Radio Academy CEO Paul Robinson: “UK radio is in rude health”. And unfortunately that’s all we’ve got time for because we’ve got to throw to the travel news.
