PopShack becomes Instrumental
By Chris Cooke | Published on Wednesday 4 November 2015
You know PopShack right? Go on, PopShack. We definitely reported on it. It’s the YouTube-centric record label type company that called itself a “Generation Z digital music business”. How could you forget that?
It’s backed by former MTV exec Bill Roedy. Oh come on, don’t go forgetting about PopShack. Write it down everybody. On a post-it note. In your notepad. On your hand. Spray paint it on your wall. Permanent marker it onto your desk. PopShack.
Done it? Good. Now you need to throw away the post-it, rip the page out of your notebook, wash your hand, repaint your wall and possibly dispose of your desk. Because the “Generation Z digital music business” has a new name. Instrumental.
Yes, that’s right, Instrumental. Don’t go forgetting it will you? I know, write it down on a post-it note. In your notepad. On your hand. Spray paint it on your wall. Permanent marker it onto your desk. Instrumental.
Says CEO Conrad Withey: “The name change is not just a recognition of the breadth of talent and music creativity now in our network but also better reflects the role the business is playing in artist development and in delivering solutions for brands and advertisers”.
