New music moves at such a rapid pace that it can be hard to keep up. Sometimes you just want to sit back a moment and allow things to sink in a bit more. Well good news! It’s time for another CMU Re-Approved playlist.

Below you’ll find ten tracks from artists who have featured in the CMU Approved column in recent months, all of whom deserve more of your attention. Seriously, they’re very good. And since they were approved the majority of them have released more music (like, you know, albums and stuff), so when you find one you really like, you can delve that bit further. You’re welcome.

01 Lorde – Tennis Court
Since featuring in the Approved column in May, Lorde has released her debut UK EP, of which this is the title track. Her earlier ‘The Love Club’ EP, which first attracted us to her, still eludes us on these shores (outside of SoundCloud), but this new collection of tracks is plenty to keep us happy.

02 Laura Welsh – Cold Front
Polydor-signed Laura Welsh has already collaborated with increasingly in-demand producer Dev Hynes, which probably bodes well for her future. Still with only a handful of single releases on offer, this is her latest, a collaboration with Rhye’s Robin Hannibal.

03 Club 8 – Stop Taking My Time
People talk up using old analogue equipment, but for their latest album Club 8 chose to use a long out of date version of the Cubase recording software. It certainly limited them in terms of modern music production, but the results are great, as this track from the new album, ‘Above The City’, shows.

04 Jon Hopkins – Open Eye Signal
Jon Hopkins is already man of the moment, so you’ve likely appraised and re-appraised his new album, ‘Immunity’, already. But, come on, this track is so good what harm can there be in listening to it again?

05 Slowolf feat Raekwon – Dance Floor
Slowolf, aka Andreas Asingh, sold his car in order to pay for Raekwon’s guest rap on this track. The gamble paid off, as it totally makes this piece, which shows off the Slowolf project’s unlikely but pretty successful hip hop/R&B/metal crossover.

06 Hookworms – Form And Function
If you ask someone of an indie persuasion what their favourite album of 2013 is so far, Hookworm’s ‘Pearl Mystics’ will crop up pretty often. So we’ve found, anyway. ‘Form And Function’ is taken from that album and does a good job of explaining why.

07 Mikal Cronin – Shout It Out
One of the highlights of this year’s Great Escape festival, Mikal Cronin also released his second solo album ‘MCII’ in May. ‘Shout It Out’ starts on its way as a tender envelope of mild, Real Estate-sy piety, but soon shakes out a jaded stack of gravel-toned guitars and lyrical angst.

08 Fuzz – Fuzz’s Fourth Dream
Where Mikal Cronin goes, Ty Segall is never far behind. Or is it the other way around? Well in this case my first statement stands. Fuzz is the latest of Segall’s ever increasing number of projects and this track comes from the group’s first single.

09 Sparrow And The Workshop – Shock Shock
Since we approved of this track back in March, Sparrow And The Workshop have released the album it comes from, ‘Murderopolis’. Their first for two years, the LP arrived via the ever-reliable Song, By Toad label and sees them fully embracing their rock tendencies.

10 Anna Von Hausswolff – Epitaph Of Daniel
Not the first organ to feature on this playlist, but I think it’s fair to say the most overt. Anna Von Hausswolff released her debut album, ‘Ceremony’, earlier this month, a collection of dark laments on death and… yeah, mainly death.
