Plácido Domingo hospitalised
By Aly Barchi | Published on Thursday 11 July 2013
Plácido Domingo was admitted to a Madrid hospital on Monday with a blood clot on one of his lungs. The Spanish opera singer, one of the Three Tenors and Chairman of the International Federation Of The Phonographic Industry, will miss a string of July performances in Daniel Catán’s opera ‘Il Postino’ whilst he’s treated. All being well, he’s still expected to appear at this year’s Salzburg festival in August.
Domingo’s representatives say he is “doing very well and responding very well to treatment”, whilst the singer himself writes this via Facebook: “I am eternally grateful and overwhelmed by the outpour of good wishes and sympathy from all of you! The saddest part of it all is being in my own city and unable to perform for Madrid’s public. I will be feeling much better soon. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart”.
