PJ Harvey and Adele favourites for Mercury

The shortlist for this year’s Mercury Prize won’t be announced until next Tuesday, but already the betting is hotting up, with Adele and PJ Harvey named favourites to win.
I think it’s probably safe to say both their albums will be on the shortlist. But then the one person I was sure would be on it last year was left off, so what do I know?
PJ Harvey has won the award before, in 2001, with her ‘Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea’ album. That doesn’t mean she shouldn’t get it again though, because she should.
