Physical now counts for just 20% of recorded music revenues in Norway

The Norwegian branch of the International Federation Of The Phonographic Industry has released figures for music revenues in the first half of 2013, which show that digital accounts for 80% of income in the country.
What’s more, streaming counts for the bulk of that income, at 66% of the total. Download services, meanwhile, count for just 14%, down from 21% last year, while physical music sales fell by 29% compared to the same period in 2012.
So, in Norway it appears that some people’s worst fears are being realised and streaming is indeed cannibalising both download and physical sales. Though IFPI Norway also reported that total recorded music revenues in the country were up 17% year on year. So maybe it’s all going to be OK after all.
