AC/DC’s Phil Rudd pleads not guilty to threatening to kill and drugs charges

AC/DC’s (ex?) drummer Phil Rudd entered a not-guilty plea earlier today regarding the charges of threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis.

As previously reported, last week the High Court in New Zealand passed the case against Rudd down the line to the District Court in Tauranga after the more serious of the charges made against the drummer, relating to allegations he had attempted to hire a hitman, were dropped by prosecutors.

It was the lesser charges to which Rudd pleaded not-guilty yesterday. He will now likely face trial next year, with the ‘threatening to kill’ crime carrying a possible seven year jail sentence if he should be found guilty.

Those of you looking forward to hearing about Rudd’s latest court-side antics – last week he reportedly gave photographers the finger, jumped on his security guard’s back and nearly reversed his Porsche into an oncoming a lorry – will be disappointed to hear that today the drummer sent a legal rep to deliver his not-guilty plea on his behalf.

As also previously reported, Rudd’s status as a member of AC/DC is currently unclear, though relations between the drummer and the rest of the group were already clearly strained before his arrest, and they are currently proceeding with their touring plans without him.
