Pharrell apologises for Native American headdress photo shoot

Pharrell Williams has apologised for causing offence by appearing on the cover of Elle’s latest issue wearing a Native American headdress.
The fashion magazine revealed the cover earlier this week, saying: “We persuaded Elle Style Award winner Pharrell to trade his Vivienne Westwood mountie hat for a Native American feather headdress in his best ever shoot”.
That wording, on the Elle website, has since been changed, following a rush of complaints to its Facebook page.
Unlike with the ‘Blurred Lines’-linked misogyny accusations against him, Williams was quick to offer an apology for his frontpage fashion choices, saying in a statement: “I respect and honour every kind of race, background and culture. I am genuinely sorry”.
