Pharrell, Karen O, U2 songs nominated for Oscar
By Aly Barchi | Published on Friday 17 January 2014
The human race’s strange but true infatuation with Pharrell Williams has reached a new high, as the R&B hit man scores a nomination for this year’s ‘Best Original Song’ Oscar for his highly original song ‘Happy’, off of ‘Despicable Me 2’.
Karen O (for her ‘Her’ theme ‘The Moon Song’), and second-time nominees U2 (for their hammy ‘Mandela’ elegy ‘No Ordinary Love’) are also amongst those vying to win the award, which last year went to ‘Bond’ babe Adele.
Singer-songwriter Owen Pallett and Arcade Fire’s Win Butler are nominated in the ‘Best Original Score’ stakes, also for the Spike Jonze-led ‘Her’.
