Pete Burns suffers kidney failure

Dead Or Alive frontman Pete Burns is currently being treated at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington after suffering double kidney failure last week. Surgery apparently uncovered 16 kidney stones but doctors were unable to remove them.

In a message to fans, given via the forum on his official website, Burns said: “I collapsed on Wednesday and was rushed to hospital. Going in [both my] kidneys [failed] and [I was] rushed for emergency five hour surgery where they found eight stones in each kidney but were unable to remove them as they were blocking both the kidney, the urethra and bladder. I’m in a very serious condition, on 24 hours intravenous morphine for the pain. Intravenous fluid as I’m so dehydrated and the kidneys cant retain the liquid. I also have diabetes insipidus, which is pulling water from my lung, liver, heart and brain. I’m critically ill and under 24 hour observation and will be in hospital for quite along time”.
