Paul Weller details hits compilation, ‘intimate’ shows
By Aly Barchi | Published on Wednesday 16 April 2014
Paul Weller has posed for a photo (in which he looks both modern and classic) – this photo – to advertise the fact that he’s releasing a new ‘greatest hits’ compilation, titled ‘More Modern Classics’, later this year.
The three-disc LP, which follows 1998’s like-titled ‘Modern Classics’, will feature singles released by PW in the past fifteen years (ie between 1999 and 2013), various live-taped radio sessions, and a brand new track, ‘Brand New Toy’, which will be released as a Record Store Day special this Saturday 19 Apr.
Weller, who’ll mark the LP’s coming out day, on 2 Jun, with two small-sized shows (whose dates and locations are still TBA) in mid-May, bills it like so: “This is just another few chapters of my life’s work, a journey which I would hope you would come with me on… The music on this compilation is [from] over fifteen years but for me it feels like it could be five or six years. I’m rushing through like, I can’t slow it down. I’ll cling on tight and see where it ends up”.
