CMU Playlists

Playlist: Bullet For My Valentine

By | Published on Saturday 20 February 2010

This week, metallers Bullet For My Valentine announced that they would release their third album, ‘Fever’, on 26 Apr. But if that seems a long way off, the band are also giving away a free track from the album, ‘Begging For Mercy’, in exchange for a tweet or an email address right now. For more details on how to get it, click here. But what music do Bullet For My Valentine listen to themselves? Well, the band’s lead guitarist, Padge, is on hand to let you know with his own CMU Powers Of Ten playlist.

Says Padge: “For my playlist, I have chosen a mix of some heavy metal classics and a few plain slammin rock n roll tunes. We play most of these tunes full volume while drinking whisky and Jagermeister on the tour bus after our shows. I really appreciate talented musicians and good songwriting, which I think is represented in the variety of the artists listed below”.

01 Arch Enemy – Silent Wars
A brutal metal masterpeice from Mike Ammott and co. Brutal riffs, slammin drums, and the heaviest female vocalist I’ve ever heard. Great to get the pit going!

02 The Dubliners – Seven Drunken Nights

I’m not Irish, but this tune really reminds me of being at the pub with all the boys, like the good ol days! Gotta love The Dubliners – great, good time drinkin music!

03 Genesis – No Son Of Mine

This is such a moody song. I love the use of key changes and chord sequences. I got this CD years ago, when I was a lad. Phil Collins has always been cool in my book. And I’ve got a book.

04 Guns N Roses – Don’t Damn Me

Whenever this song comes on the bus system, something gets broken. Usually a drummer!

05 Iron Maiden – Wasted Years

One of my favourite Maiden tracks. And one of the first I ever heard. It reminds me of being young and discovering metal, but the lyrics have so much relevance these days, too. Guitar hero solo!

06 The Jeff Healey Band – I’m Torn Down

A truly amazing artist. Jeff passed away recently but his legacy lives on as one of the greatest blues guitar slingers in history. And he was blind!

07 Kings Of Leon – Use Somebody

A great song. I lost a good friend last year and he loved this band. I was in Australia at the time he died and couldn’t make it back in time for the funeral. He was a true gent, a proper mate and we WILL have that beer one day!

08 Machine Head – Davidian

Robb and co are the reason we tune our guitars the way we do in Bullet. Before I joined the band I had no idea tuning down was even a possibility.

09 Nirvana – Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle

One of the best bands this world has had. Kurt Cobain rules all. God bless Nirvana! They were such a dynamical band and he was such a great songwriter. The root of my career, you could say. Kurt once spoke to me through a poster on my wall!

10 Ozzy Osbourne – Old LA Tonight

Another fantastic drinking song. [BFMV drummer] Moose loves this one and it reminds us of drinking back home with our friends and girlfriends. A great song to end the night.
