Artists who performed at the Olympics opening and closing ceremonies saw a dramatic boost in sales following the events, according to figures published by the BPI, the BBC reports.

Overall, an extra 250,000 albums were sold, and almost 500,000 individual tracks were downloaded, following the events, according to the figures. And it was the closing ceremony that was found to have the biggest impact overall, with a boost of 267,000 individual track downloads, compared to 225,000 for the opening bash.

However, the opening ceremony’s spin-off compilation album, ‘Isles Of Wonder’, was more successful than the closing ceremony’s ‘Symphony Of British Music’ record.
