Noise Of Art to celebrate 100 years of electronic music
By Andy Malt | Published on Monday 18 March 2013
Noise Of Art has announced its next series of events will celebrate the 100th anniversary of electronic music, and the publication of Italian futurist Luigi Russolo’s ‘Manifesto For An Art Of Noises’ in 1913.
Putting his money where his mouth was, Russolo also built a number of new instruments, called Intonarumori, which are now considered to be a precursor to the modern synthesiser. His first performance, also in 1913, elicited extremely polarised reactions.
A launch show for the upcoming series of Noise Of Art events will take place at Village Underground in Shoreditch on 17 May. Headlining will be the acclaimed Eccentronic Research Council, playing their first ever show in London, with vocals from actress Maxine Peake. Also confirmed so far are Fil OK, Justin Robertson, Jim Stanton, Scottee, Severino, Ben Osborne, Your Mum and Mark Scott Wood.
