So, after last week’s ABC magazine stats were released various people noted NME’s latest circulation figures and mused that the weekly music mag should just go free, Time Out-style, which Chinese-whispered into rumours that NME was about to go free, Time Out-style, leading to the team at Vice asking their local newsagent if NME was going free, Time Out-style, and he told them that NME was definitely going free, Time Out-style, which led to much chatter on Twitter about how NME was going free, Time Out-style.

So, Time Inc UK, publisher of NME, is it true that NME is going free, Time Out-style? “It is untrue that next week’s edition is the last paid-for issue of NME”. OK, Time Inc UK, publisher of NME, but what about the week after that, will we soon be seeing NME go free, Time Out-style? “We don’t comment on speculation”. But, Time Inc UK, publisher of NME, are you not commenting on speculation Time Out-style? “No comment”.

So, that’s all stuff that happened. Well, apart from that last sentence. I made that bit up. Time Out-style.

PS: For the avoidance of doubt, I’m not saying Time Out has ever made anything up. That was just a pleasing way to finish off the story. NME-style.

PPS: For the avoidance of doubt, I’m not saying NME ever finished off a story in a pleasing way. That was just a mechanic to ensure someone got dissed in this story. CMU-style.
