Sony Music UK has announced the appointment of a new Director Of Communications who will join the executive team of newish CEO Jason Iley next month. Indy Vidyalankara comes to the major from the BBC, where she led comms on some of the Corporation’s major TV shows, and before that for Radio 1 and 1 Xtra. Prior to that she worked as a press officer at Sony Music itself.

Confirming the new hire, Iley told reporters: “I am delighted to welcome Indy back to Sony Music. She is a seasoned and accomplished communications professional with an excellent track record of achievement. Indy has been very much at the sharp end of corporate and reputation issues in her time at the BBC and has a very creative and strategic approach. I look forward to her becoming a key part of our talented executive team as we take Sony Music from strength to strength”.

Sony Music UK’s incumbent corporate communications man Paul Bursche, who has been working on a consultancy basis via his newly formed agency since June, will formally leave the music firm at the end of January.
