Hey, here’s a section we don’t run often enough in the CMU Daily. Some news for you from the home of country music.
First, digital distribution people The Orchard have opened an office there, on the city’s famous Music Row. Look, here is their boss Brad Navin saying so: “Nashville has always had it right; it’s about the songs. We hope to apply our expertise around the digital music business to deliver marketing, strategic planning and promotions to Nashville’s top independent labels, artists and publishers for success at digital retail – where it too is about the songs!”
Second, following the news yesterday that Joe Galante was stepping down as the Chairman of Sony Music’s Nashville division, Billboard reported last night that Sony will nab EMI Publishing’s top country man Joe Galante to take over that job. Galante will then be replaced at the top of EMI Music Publishing Nashville by Ben Vaughn, who will be promoted internally.
