MusicQubed appoints telecoms veteran as chairman
By Chris Cooke | Published on Tuesday 9 July 2013
MusicQubed, the company behind the previously reported O2 Tracks streaming service, has recruited Chris Burke, formerly CTO at Vodafone, as its new Chairman. Burke has three decades of experience in the telecoms sector, most recently as MD EMEA for Blackberry.
Following the launch of O2 Tracks in March, MusicQubed is plotting other mobile-based music services around the world, mainly in partnership with other parties, most based around the model of providing users with access to a relatively small number of tracks which change each week, similar to a radio station’s playlist
Confirming his new appointment, Burke told Mobile Today: “I am excited to be part of such an innovative company, particularly following the successful O2 Tracks deployment and engagements with other tier one operators internationally”.
MusicQubed CEO Chris Gorman added: “We have a number of hugely exciting international projects in the pipeline and are extremely pleased to have Chris Burke join MusicQubed. His in-depth knowledge of mobile and range of global contacts will prove invaluable in accelerating our growth internationally. We see it as a testament to our company’s success that Chris has chosen to join our team”.
