Music lawyer Mark Wilkins returns to London to join Everys
By Chris Cooke | Published on Monday 3 August 2015
Veteran music lawyer Mark Wilkins is returning to the UK after several years working in Southern Europe to join the London offices of Everys Solicitors, where he will focus on music, digital and tech companies, including helping new businesses in these domains.
Wilkins, who is rejoining his former colleague Stephen Beverley, who is now running the Everys London office, told reporters last week: “Ten years ago, when we were first introduced to Shazam, Kobalt and Frukt, there was wide-spread post-dot.com scepticism among funders. Today, there are many more routes from crowd funding and government initiatives for start-ups to hungrier members of the development and venture capital communities seeking early post-revenue businesses”.
He went on: “The landscape for the music and associated business has changed beyond recognition in recent years. Now is the time for the business of music to re-visit its core models and adapt to suit the cascade of new technologies… or get lost in the stampede. There are many hugely talented executives who see the wood for the trees and aim to realise the new wave of commercial opportunities”.
