The Orchard has a vacancy for an Indie Sales Manager servicing independent record shops and online accounts. Candidates should ideally have experience working with music retail, distribution or at a label. It is important to have a good understanding of the sales and distribution landscape. The role would involve actively selling new releases titles across a spectrum of genres along with continual re-promotion of back catalogue. The position will be based in the London office.
The Orchard, currently celebrating 20 years in business, is a pioneering music and film company, distributing music from artists such as Skepta, Alter Bridge, Billy Bragg and Run The Jewels.  With our industry-leading technology and operations, we partner with companies of all sizes to make their music, films and videos available across hundreds of digital outlets and physical retailers around the world.  At The Orchard, our focus is to provide a comfortable, social and engaging environment to encourage productivity and creativity.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with UK retailers and customers.
• Help constantly develop The Orchard’s sales network.
• Occupy an integral role in planning and executing new release sell-in and campaigns across a broad base of accounts.
• Retail presentations and sales to a varied portfolio of clients.
• Generating sales parts in order to supply the account base with all information needed.
• Organising live in-store events and implementation of marketing packs in-store & online.
• Company representation in meetings with existing and potential clients.
• Representation of UK Sales Team in internal meetings and discussions.
• Working closely with internal teams to deliver effective and innovative promotions, suited to the repertoire.
• Being a source of guidance for any sales related issues, within the team and wider company.
• Working pro-actively with all departments to ensure effective workflow.
• Various ad hoc responsibilities and duties to help improve and strengthen the sales department and company.

• Strong interest and understanding of music across all genres.
• Self-motivated, pro-active approach.
• Proficient in MS Office (in particular Excel and Word).
• An understanding of the UK marketplace, including, but not limited to, labels and distribution.
• An enthusiasm to approach new areas of business, with a positive and considered attitude.
• Awareness of changes and developments in the music market, with particular emphasis on competitor activity.
• Ability to organise and prioritise effectively over multiple releases.
• Good communication and networking skills, with the capacity to identify key relationships and develop them accordingly.
• Confident to work autonomously but also as part of a team.
• Willingness to attend shows and events out of work hours.
• Passionate about music.
