Founded in 1981 by current Managing Director Stephen Lumsden, Intermusica has a highly experienced and agile workforce of over 40 staff in London, Berlin and Beijing.

Intermusica is the only classical music management agency with a dedicated Communications & Marketing team of four, whose combined experience encompasses digital strategy, stakeholder engagement, publishing, PR and more. The department is responsible for promoting all Intermusica artists and selected International Touring and FAMIP (Film & Multimedia in Performance) projects, as well as safeguarding and developing the reputation and positioning of the company as a whole.

We pride ourselves on being creative, forward-thinking and bold: Intermusica’s website won a coveted Webby in 2016 and we recently produced a widely acclaimed corporate film in conjunction with award-winning director Richard Wilson.

Person specification

Intermusica is seeking a self-assured, highly motivated and imaginative individual with a passion for bringing classical music to a wide audience through creative communication.

The successful candidate will possess/be:

• Educated to degree level or equivalent
• Evident interest in classical music
• Experienced in Communications / Marketing / PR
• Excellent written communication and proof-reading skills (fluent in English); flair for copywriting
• A proactive self-starter with the ability to lead projects independently
• Highly organised and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Able to think laterally and maintain an overview of a large volume of information
• Able to quickly form and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues from across the company, and with external contacts such as artists, journalists and suppliers
• Enthusiasm for learning new skills, networking and researching areas of growth in PR, marketing, digital technology etc.


External communications

• Supporting Head of Communications & Marketing with Intermusica’s positioning: includes advocacy, PR, stakeholder engagement, advertising, market research
• Co-ordinating content across Intermusica’s social media channels, working with Digital Marketing Manager on growth strategy
• Managing Intermusica’s e-flyer schedule, working with Managers on e-flyer copy and targeted recipient lists, and ensuring e-marketing best practice
• Co-ordinating and delivering major industry announcements, such as artist signings and new appointments, across Intermusica’s channels (website, socials, e-flyers etc.)
• Daily artist media monitoring; sharing results with Managers
• Extra media monitoring for specific campaigns or events, as required
• Representing Intermusica at performances and networking/professional development events

Internal communications

• Working with Head of Communications & Marketing and HR Consultant – includes organising monthly company presentations, managing Intermusica’s Tumblr account, and assisting with staff induction and engagement initiatives
• Overture (Intermusica database) department representative: responsible for keeping abreast of all relevant developments to the database, and for keeping the department’s contacts fully up-to-date and correctly tagged
International Chamber Music Series (ICMS)
• Team lead for planning, implementing and evaluating marketing campaigns for ICMS selected concerts, working with rest of department and co-promoters (Southbank Centre) to reach pre-agreed seat sales and financial targets
• Responsibility for ICMS budget

Artist accounts and projects

• Account management of selected artists’ personal websites: troubleshooting, liaising with suppliers, artists and Managers, writing content and performing weekly functionality checks – reporting into Digital Marketing Manager
• Assist as required with artist projects such as photoshoots, filming sessions, website builds and marketing campaigns
• Assist with International Touring and FAMIP projects, such as PR campaigns, as required Branding, Editorial & Print
• Protecting, developing and enforcing Intermusica house style, visual identity etc.
• Feeding into and proof-reading design and print materials
• Supporting Communications & Marketing Assistant, when required, with website editing

• Full-time, permanent
• Office hours: 9.30 – 5.30pm Mon – Thu, 9.30 – 5pm Fri; additional hours as required (ie attending selected evening/weekend performances) for which overtime is not paid
