Over 40 people were injured at a Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa show in New Jersey on Friday night after a railing separating the audience from the stage collapsed.

The rappers were performing together at the BB&T Pavilion venue in the city of Camden when the three foot metal railing gave way, sending fans falling down on to the concrete below. According to reports, the show was cancelled shortly afterwards, and 42 people were taken to nearby hospitals, mostly with minor injuries.

Video footage shows the accident happening just feet away from the rappers, who are then ushered away by security staff.

The venue nonetheless reopened the next day, following consultation with local authorities. Camden City spokesman Vince Basara told reporters: “There will be a permanent railing installed later, but for the sake of public safety and security the temporary railing has to go up. The buffer zone has to be installed”.

In a statement, the venue’s operator Live Nation said: “We were saddened that several dozen people, including Live Nation employees, sustained injuries resulting from a railing section collapse during the Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa concert at Camden’s BB&T Pavilion on Friday night. Live Nation is closely following the recovery of the injured fans and employees as well as actively working with authorities and structural engineers to determine the cause of the collapse. We have secured the impacted railing section, and [Saturday’s] show with I Love The 90s as well as [Sunday’s] show with Fifth Harmony will go ahead as scheduled”.

The next scheduled show at the venue now is a performance by Counting Crows on Wednesday, with shows from Blink 182, Black Sabbath and Prophets Of Rage all coming up later this month.
