MIDEM moves
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 14 May 2013
MIDEM has announced it’s moving its dates for next year, due to a clash with the 2014 Grammy Awards. Traditionally taking place at the end of January, the Cannes-based music industry conference will now shift to the first week of February.
US broadcaster CBS yesterday announced that the Grammys would take place at the Staples Center in LA on 26 Jan – the awards themselves moving to avoid clashes with sporting events – though the decision to move MIDEM was announced prior to official confirmation of this.
In a statement, MIDEM director Bruno Crolot said: “We didn’t want to take the risk of overlapping with the Grammy Awards as many of our clients attend this important music industry event. After checking with a great number of our attendees that they were favorable to this change, we decided to reschedule Midem 2014 to 1-4 Feb So that people can re-organise their agendas, we are announcing the new dates as soon as possible”.
