MIA accuses Grammys of stealing stage ideas
By Andy Malt | Published on Thursday 21 February 2013
MIA has accused the Grammy Awards of stealing the stage design of her current live show for a tribute to Bob Marley at the ceremony earlier this month, performed by Sting, Bruno Mars and Rihanna with Marley’s sons Ziggy and Damian.
In a post on Tumblr, MIA place images of both performances side by side, showing that both featured squares constructed from lights – something never before seen, apparently. Referring to it on Twitter as a the first entry in her new “steal log”, she added in the blog post: “My ideas came from my life. My set was based on Tamil Hindu temple. Not Bob Marley. If you wanna see the real thing or get it first, come to a MIA show!”
