Metallica announced as final Glastonbury headliner

Metallica have been announced as the third and final headliner of this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
In an interview published on the Glastonbury website, Michael Eavis refuted a suggestion that the metal band were a strange booking for the festival, saying: “Do you think so? Metallica are one of the most popular bands in the world! And they really are a phenomenal live act. This a band that can sell out stadiums in pretty much every country on the planet. From Newlyn to Newcastle on my travels, all through the years, people keen asking me, ‘When are Metallica going to play?’ There’s a huge swathe of people who love Metallica to bits and just think they’re absolutely amazing. They’re worthy headliners!”
Meanwhile, drummer Lars Ulrich told The Guardian: “The one thing we’ve figured out along the way is that Metallica have a tendency to get some fairly strong opinions out of people – which is a great thing, because nobody seems to just be neutral and dismissive. Everybody’s always got an opinion about what we do, or what we’re playing, or what we had for breakfast, or whatever. That’s something you find the good in, because it means that people care. And it’s better to have people care than not have anybody care. So we’ll find the good in all of it, thank you very much for asking!”
Metallica will close the Pyramid Stage on the Saturday night, with Arcade Fire and Kasabian taking the Friday and Sunday respectively.
