Manchester Apollo gets O2 tag

By | Published on Thursday 9 September 2010

Live Nation has announced it will add the O2 brand to the name of its Apollo venue in Manchester, making it, officially, the O2 Apollo Manchester, a new name that approximately fourteen people will use.

O2, of course, have naming rights over most of the venues run by the Academy Music Group, which is in turn half owned by Live Nation. The Apollo isn’t actually part of the Academy network, though may be marketed as such moving forward, I’m not sure.

The new sponsorship deal, which will also give O2 customers access to priority tickets, will coincide with the interior of the venue being cleaned up and redecorated.

Says Live Nation’s COO International Paul Latham: “It gives me great pleasure to announce this partnership with O2 and it facilitates our investment in one of the greatest music venues in the UK. Concert fans deserve the best and this partnership delivers that and so much more”.
