Major HMV review planned
By CMU Editorial | Published on Monday 5 March 2007
Good news for fans of strategy reviews. The HMV Group has announced it will be releasing a major one in the next two weeks, which is very exciting.
This is part of CEO Simon Fox’s attempts to turn round the fortunes of the high street books and music seller (them owning Waterstones, also, of course), or to at least convince city types the company’s fortunes are capable of being turned round amid ever increasing competition from supermarkets and online music providers. The review should be made available to investors on 13 Mar.
Some reports suggested that the review will include up to 20 store closures, rumours that probably came about because Fox is known to have instructed a property agency to review its portfolio of stores – though HMV insiders are saying store closures are not planned in the short term.
