Madonna tops most played artist of the decade poll

Madonna was the most played artist in the last decade according to recording rights society PPL.
Madge was ahead of The Beatles and Robbie Williams in the poll, which counted all records played on radio, TV and in public places (well, all the ones documented by PPL) over the last ten years.
The overall top ten, played out on Radio 2 yesterday, was as follows:
1. Madonna
2. The Beatles
3. Robbie Williams
4. Queen
5. Take That
6. Sugababes
7. Elton John
8. Elvis Presley
9. Abba
10. Coldplay
