Louis Tomlinson books Doncaster Rovers debut
By Aly Barchi | Published on Tuesday 14 January 2014
One Direction’s own Sporty Spice, Louis Tomlinson, is to make his semi-pro footballing debut with Championship side Doncaster Rovers, who signed him as an honorary, ‘non-contract’ player last August. Technically he’ll be on the bench as a reserve but, just for the sake of this all being a bit more interesting, let’s picture him on the pitch.
Tomlinson, who’ll ‘play’ with the Rovers when they face Scunthorpe in March, says this of his journey: “Six months ago I was joking about with one of the guys at the club and the joke became reality so I’m on the squad! I’ve been a fan since I was a young boy, and used to go with my dad and granddad”.
On his qualifications to play football at a professional level, he added: “I’m registered as a player. I’m alright, I play right back – a bit hit and miss!”
All in all a fair(ish) appraisal.
