Live Nation step up Aussie ops

By | Published on Tuesday 20 April 2010

Live Nation is stepping up its presence in the Australian market by setting up a division that will specifically focus on tour promotion in the country. Well, Australia and New Zealand.

The new division will be led by Luke Hede, who heads up Live Nation’s Hong Kong-based Asia division, and who will also continue to be involved in the live music conglom’s operations elsewhere in the Pacific Rim region. He will be joined by Roger Field, who is moving to Live Nation from Aussie-based live music firm Michael Coppel Presents.

Live Nation International top man Alan Ridgeway told CMU: “Over the last decade, Live Nation has been involved with some of the most successful tours throughout Australia and New Zealand, including: U2, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Prince, Nickelback, The Police, and many others. We now feel that the time is right to establish our own presence and further monetise our global tours in this particularly strong and growing live music market”.

He continued: “After working closely with two of Australia’s most highly regarded promoters in Paul Dainty and Michael Coppel respectively, both Luke and Roger have vast experience and knowledge in the local market and we are thrilled to have them leading our Australian launch”.
