Little Simz, Seinabo Sey and Dornik all in place for Launched At Red Bull Studios

‘Launched At Red Bull Studios’, the tastemaking/tipping-type pop TV show responsible for assisting the likes of Jessie Ware, Ella Eyre and… Sam Smith in attaining greatness, is coming back to TV’s own Channel 4 for a new series in the New Year 2015.
Hosted by Annie Mac, ‘Launched…’ will spotlight ten rising artists via a mix of ‘in conversation’ footage and live performance. The show’s 2015-featuring acts will each appear backed by a higher-profile mentor or ‘ambassador’, the names of whom shall be confirmed on 5 Dec.
And the 2015 artists are, in alphabetical order: Dornik, George The Poet, Jack Garratt, James Bay, Josef Salvat, Little Simz, Seinabo Sey, Shura, Wolf Alice and Years & Years.
Many of those are also on the MTV Brand New and/or BBC Sound Of 2015 and/or BRITs Critics Choice lists, by the way. Because that’s how the big, commercially-geared, new-acts-hyping machine works. Not to do down ‘Launched’ or anything, which actually looks like it’s taking risks with some of its acts. The BRITs Critics Choice award, on the other hand. Sorry, I’ll shut up.
Red Bull Media House’s Executive Producer James Milnes, who hasn’t any of my jaded cynicism towards the whole year-end-act-tipping thing, says: “Red Bull Studios are about supporting up and coming talent year round and ‘Launched’ is an exciting part of that. With the calibre of artists we’ve featured in previous years, ‘Launched’ has proven itself as a valuable springboard for talent and the place for viewers to discover the best new music first”.
Meanwhile Channel 4 Commissioning Editor For Music, Jonny Rothery, adds: “Year on year ‘Launched’ picks out artists that go on to great things in the year ahead. In an age where credible new music is less prevalent on terrestrial TV, the return of ‘Launched’ for a fourth series is proof there is a hunger for this and as a result C4 continues to support it”.
