Libertines confirm Hyde Park reunion
By Andy Malt | Published on Friday 25 April 2014
The Libertines have confirmed that they will reunite to play the British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park on 5 Jul. “It’s official”, the band said on Facebook this morning. “THE GOOD SHIP ALBION IS SETTING SAIL SOONER THAN YOU THOUGHT”.
Though given that we all thought they were going to do exactly what they have now confirmed, I’m not sure what’s happening “sooner than we thought”. As previously reported, last weekend the band posted a picture of Hyde Park on their Facebook page. Then Carl Barat said that people should “keep the 5th of July free”. And then, just in case anyone was still unsure, Pete Doherty said that he’d agreed to a reunion show in Hyde Park in order to pay off some debts.
Support acts for the show will include The Pogues, Spiritualized, Maximo Park and The Enemy. Tickets will go on general sale on 2 May, with a pre-sale allocation on offer on 28 Apr. When they go live, they’ll be available here.
