Kobalt signs McCartney administration deal
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 25 July 2012
Music publishing firm Kobalt Music Group has announced it has signed an exclusive administration deal with Paul McCartney and his MPL Communications company in all countries globally excluding North America, the UK and Ireland.
The deal will cover all of McCartney’s post-Beatles solo songwriting work and his output with Wings, plus compositions by over 1200 other songwriters in the MPL Communications, MPL Music Publishing and Cherio Corp catalogues.
Kobalt founder and CEO Willard Hadritz told Billboard: “It’s one of the biggest privately-owned catalogues in the world. We will put the focus on creating some noise around this catalogue going forward”.
