Kobalt Music Group is now monetising over one billion YouTube streams per month for its clients, thanks to its own in-house technology, the company said yesterday.

The publisher has detected over 50 million user-generated videos using music in its catalogue to date, a figure boosted by the recent launch of its own detection technology ProKlaim, which works in tandem with YouTube’s audio fingerprinting system.

Discussing the importance of the technology, Kobalt CEO Willard Ahdritz said: “One hit song can generate up to 50,000 user-generated videos, many of which remain unclaimed by its proper rights owners. With the launch of ProKlaim, we are seeing a phenomenal increase in the speed and accuracy in which we find and claim missing content”.
