Kerbdog

Nine years on from what was supposed to be a one-off reunion show, Kerbdog are still going strong, with a UK tour and new live album release coming up later this year.

Kerb-what? Kerbdog. Come on, you remember. They released two albums, the second of which, ‘On The Turn’, was something of a masterpiece. No? Well, don’t take my word for it, this press release that just arrived in my inbox has included quotes from people you’ve heard of to help out.

“Kerbdog were one of my gateway bands”, says Frank Turner off of the Olympics. While Biffy Clyro’s Simon Neil adds: “It’s a crime that Kerbdog are not held aloft by every band in the country as heroes”.

So, there you go. Now, what about this live album? Well, it’s called ‘Congregation’, and it’s made up of recordings of gigs in Dublin, Bristol and London from last year. It features fifteen live tracks, as well as a new studio recording of a song called ‘Soaking Wet’. A track from ‘back in the day’, the previously unreleased b-side was supposed to be their first US single, before the band were dropped by Mercury back in 1997 spoiling the whole thing.

Says frontman Cormac Battle of the release: “When I heard the recent live recordings, it dawned on me that we had a major document on our hands, something hardcore Dog fans would love to hear. It’s blown up into this proper release, and crucially, without all the bullshit. It’s a very exciting time for Kerbdog”.

‘Congregation’ is out on 6 Oct, with live dates in November looking like this:

14 Nov: Dublin, Academy
15 Nov: Manchester, The Ritz
16 Nov: London, The Forum
17 Nov: Bristol, Bierkeller
18 Nov: Plymouth, White Rabbit
19 Nov: Southampton, Talking Heads
20 Nov: Birmingham, The Oobleck
21 Nov: Nottingham, Rock City Basement
22 Nov: Glasgow, Ivory Blacks
