Kelis asks for quick settlement of ongoing divorce proceedings

Kelis has asked a US court to finalise her divorce from Nas “as soon as possible”. It’s almost a year since the R&B star began divorce proceedings against the hip hopper, and the subsequent maintenance payment squabbles have been widely documented.
Because of various complications, the actual divorce is still working its way through the system, but not fast enough for Kelis. In legal papers submitted this week she’s asked for her marriage to be fully terminated asap, even if all matters relating to the separation are not fully resolved.
For his part, Nas has reportedly written the ninety grand cheque he was told by the courts to give his ex-wife last week. He will have to now make good on other overdue payments to his estranged wife by handing over larger monthly alimony cheques for the foreseeable future.
