Europe’s bestest (and we’re in no way biased here) showcase festival The Great Escape has announced the first hundred bands set to play at this year’s event, which will again take over the city of Brighton, from 8-10 May.

In the amongst the stack of talent now confirmed for this year’s bash is the line-up to the first of the TGE Dome Shows, which take place in the Brighton Dome Concert Hall each night of the festival. And on the Saturday night, the Dome will be headlined, rather excitingly, by the one and only Kelis, fresh from her recent signing to Ninja Tune and the April release of her sixth album. Support at the Dome show, which requires a ‘top up’ ticket for guaranteed access, will come from Ella Eyre.

As for the other acts confirmed, the full list is below, though notable amongst them are the four acts so far confirmed from this year’s featured country at TGE, Finland, in the form of Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Satellite Stories, Sin Cos Tan and The Scenes. Acts from no less than 25 countries will appear at this year’s Great Escape, continuing the festival’s reputation as a truly international music gathering.

After revealing the first hundred bands to play this year, TGE Festival Director Kat Morris told CMU: “This will be our ninth festival, and it really feels like the event has become stronger year-on-year. The Great Escape prides itself on showcasing the very best upcoming talent and we aim to produce a line-up that shows a true cross section of emerging artists, locally and internationally, and offer hundreds of incredible gigs, accessible to festival-goers with just one wristband. We’re really excited by how this year’s line-up is shaping up”.

As always, the TGE Festival sits alongside the CMU Insights-programmed TGE Convention, which will this year include six core half-day strands each focused on a different aspect of the music business, and offering insight presentations, panel debates and expert interviews. The first of those to be confirmed is Maximising Music Rights, in association with PPL and PRS For Music, providing an overview of the music rights sector, with focuses on neighbouring rights and tools for protecting IP, and an interview with Mike Weatherly MP, IP Advisor to David Cameron.

Look out for announcements about the other strands very soon, meanwhile get yourself a delegate pass – ensuring access to all core convention events and priority access to festival venues (subject to capacity) – for the special price of £145 here.
