Kanye eyeing minimalist eight-track LP
By Aly Barchi | Published on Monday 9 December 2013
Thank ‘Yeezus’, at last, a thing Kanye West has said in passing that fans can actually grab on to and understand. And it is this: that he’s pretty certain his next LP will feature eight tracks, and be minimalist, in terms of its aeshetic (as well as the fact that it’ll only have eight tracks to it).
Speaking at this year’s Art Basel exhibit in Miami, West said last week: “I think my next album is going to be eight songs. It’s just reducing down the amount of information that you need. People say a design is the point where you can’t take anything else away”.
He went on: “‘Yeezus’ was very, very designed. I took a departure from radio and popular music in order to get this seat here. If I hadn’t made ‘Yeezus’, I wouldn’t be sitting here with this cool font at Basel right here”.
