Joker signs Universal Publishing deal
By CMU Editorial | Published on Thursday 19 August 2010
Bristol dubstep producer Joker has signed a deal with Universal Music Publishing, his manager Charles Holgate (aka MC Nomad) announced on Tuesday night. Holgate posted a picture of a post-signing meal with the Universal team to Twitter, before Joker revealed that they’d all got very drunk and introduced the publishers to “a place called the black hole”. I’m not sure if that affects the deal.
Along with the rapidly growing success of the likes of Magnetic Man, this deal would seem to put a definitive stamp of dubstep having now gone mainstream. Therefore, this would seem like a good time for us all to listen to Drowned In Sound’s Dubstep Chronology mixtape: drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4140731-25-tracks–a-dubstep-chronology-mixtape
