Jessie J exits The Voice

No one’s favourite coach on BBC anti-superficiality gala ‘The Voice’ – Jessie J – has quit her swivel chair, leaving the show and remaining co-coaches Tom Jones, Will.i.am and Danny O’Donoghue to its/their fate/s. Apparently it’s because she has live and promotional commitments overseas, and isn’t anything to do with the programme never quite achieving the hype levels of rival ‘X-Factor’.

Says J: “I’ve absolutely loved my time on ‘The Voice’ and I hope everyone saw and knows how passionately I felt about the show. However, I can’t wait to promote my new record around the world and that has to take priority. I shall be keeping a very close eye on series three showing my support in every way I can and really hope that in some way that I can be part of the show”.

Controller of Entertainment Commissioning at the Beeb, Mark Linsey, despairingly adds: “We’re so sorry to see Jessie go as she’s been an exceptional coach on, and advocate for, ‘The Voice’, but we totally support her decision to leave due to touring commitments overseas. We very much hope that Jessie will remain part of the show and come back and perform for us next series. In the meantime we will now start the search for a new coach”.

Whilst odds-on faves to claim Jessie’s rotating-seat so far are Cheryl Cole and Nicole Scherzinger; original coaches Jones, O’Donoghue and i.am are still to confirm their places on ‘The Voice UK’ ahead of its third series.
