Jay-Z’s Rocawear to expand into Chinese market
By CMU Editorial | Published on Tuesday 2 June 2009
Jay-Z has confirmed that his business partners in the Rocawear fashion brand have secured a deal to help expand the hip hop clothing range into the Chinese market. The Chinese division of fashion brand firm Iconix, itself a JV with Novel Fashion Holding Limited, has done a deal with another company called Bosideng International Holdings, that will help it launch Rocawear in China.
Confirming the deal, Jay told reporters: “When Iconix purchased the Rocawear trademark two years ago, [Iconix CEO] Neil Cole and I made a commitment to building Rocawear into a global lifestyle brand. Our expansion into China is a validation of our joint efforts to bring an authentic interpretation of American fashion to young people around the world”.
