Ivor Novello Awards

The Ivor Novello Awards were handed out at a ceremony at Grosvenor House in London yesterday. As well as recognising the best in contemporary songwriting, Marc Almond was handed the Inspiration Award, while Justin Hayward received the Outstanding Achievement Award and Randy Newman Special International Award.

Oh, and Emeli Sandé was given PRS For Music’s Most Performed Work prize, along with her ‘Next To Me’ co-writers Hugo Chegwin, Harry Craze and Anup Paul. I mean, of course she was. The same song was also named Best Song Musically And Lyrically.

Best Contemporary Song: The Maccabees – Pelican (Sam Doyle, Rupert Jarvis, Orlando Weeks, Felix White and Hugo White)

PRS For Music Most Performed Work: Emeli Sandé – Next To Me (Hugo Chegwin, Harry Craze, Anup Paul and Emeli Sandé)

Best Television Soundtrack: Lucian Freud – Painted Life (John Harle)

The Ivors Inspiration Award: Marc Almond

Album Award: Alt-J – An Awesome Wave (Thomas Green, Joe Newman, Gwilym Sainsbury and Augustus Unger-Hamilton)

The Ivors Classical Music Award: Errollyn Wallen MBE

PRS For Music Award For Outstanding Achievement: Justin Hayward

Best Original Film Score: Anna Karenina (Dario Marianelli)

Best Song Musically And Lyrically: Emeli Sandé – Next To Me (Hugo Chegwin, Harry Craze, Anup Paul and Emeli Sandé)

International Achievement: Gavin Rossdale

Songwriter Of The Year: Calvin Harris

Outstanding Song Collection: Noel Gallagher

PRS For Music Special International Award: Randy Newman
