INXS plan new album with guest singers

INXS have announced plans to record a new album with a number of guest singers providing vocals. The album will be released next year and will be promoted with another of those world tour things.

It’s not clear what this means for JD Fortune, the Canadian guy who became INXS frontman via a reality TV show. Despite seemingly fitting in with the veteran Aussie rockers, Fortune claimed in an interview earlier this year that he’d been dumped as frontman during a conversation with his bandmates at Hong Kong airport. But the band’s reps denied any knowledge of that conversation and said that they had assumed – until that point – he’d work with the band again in the future.

The fact guest singers are being brought in for the next INXS album would suggest that Fortune is out – either he always was or his remarks earlier this year resulting in his axing. That said, a spokesman for the band wouldn’t confirm or deny that the reality show winner would or would not still have an involvement in the INXS franchise.

A statement on the matter is expected soonish though, along with details of what other vocalists will appear on the new long player.
