Independent Label Week gets underway
By Chris Cooke | Published on Monday 9 November 2015
So this, don’t forget, is Independent Label Week, a new initiative led by the Adult Teeth Recording Company and involving, by our maths, 47 indies, mainly of the smaller variety, who are marking the event with special releases, offers and/or events.
Say the people behind the venture: “Independent Label Week is an annual celebration of independent record labels worldwide. Through label-organised special events, releases and more, the primary aim is to encourage audience engagement with their local independent labels, and also to learn more about labels outside of their hometowns”.
Meanwhile Nina Condron of Horus Music – which is sponsoring the whole thing – says: “As soon as we heard about Independent Label Week we knew we needed to get involved somehow, so we’re thrilled to be sponsoring and supporting ILW 2015. Horus Music’s ethos is akin to the labels that we work with; truly supporting musicians and championing under-the-radar music often dismissed by the majors”.
