Imagem to open London office for R&H business
By CMU Editorial | Published on Friday 7 September 2012
Independent music publisher Imagem has announced it is expanding its Rodgers & Hammerstein division by opening a new European theatrical licensing branch in London next January. Currently the various stage musicals owned by the group have been licensed for theatrical performance in Europe via publishing firm Josef Weinberger, but from next year R&H will licence directly. The new unit will be headed up by new recruit Vivien Goodwin, initially with support from Bert Fink, who is currently based at R&H’s New York office.
Confirming the expansion, R&H President Ted Chapin told CMU: “I couldn’t be more thrilled about this exciting new chapter for R&H. Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II always knew the importance of the British and European market, and they both loved London, where they had a production office for many years. Today, as part of a global company, our new London branch will give us the opportunity to reinvigorate our catalogue throughout Britain and across the Continent. This is an important move for us, which is why I am sending my longtime R&H colleague Bert Fink to London to help launch this venture”.
