Halsey reckons genre classifications are “absolute bullshit”

Electro-pop singer Halsey thinks genre classifications are “absolute bullshit” in this here modern age. Which is so electro-pop.
Says the electro-pop singer and occasional Justin Bieber collaborator to Rolling Stone: “Genre in 2016 is just absolute bullshit. Half the records on hip hop radio are pop records at their core, and half the records on fucking alternative radio are pop. And pop radio doesn’t even know what the fuck it’s doing”.
But that doesn’t stop those “fucking alternative radio” stations from turning down quality electro-pop when presented to them by a fine electro-pop singer like Halsey. “I end up pleading my case to alternative programmers”, she goes on. “You’re telling me that my music is too dark for pop, too pop for alternative, and urban radio won’t touch it – so we have a record that doesn’t fit in. And what is more alternative than that?”
Electro-pop, that’s what. Anyway, food for thought there from electro-pop star Halsey.
